Students may receive credit for a course at their home college by taking an examination in place of the actual course. It is called 'Credit by Examination', and most colleges provide this service. If you know the content of a course, then you can get credit for the course at your college by taking an exam. If you pass the exam, then your college will post that course on your transcript as if you had actually taken the class on their campus. Therefore, you can take our courses under the noncredit option to learn the material, and then obtain college credit at your college via Credit by Examination.
For example, here are the rules at Arizona State University for credit by examination.
